Useful Resort Snow Forecasting Site...
Sorry to be a spammer but my friend just finished making a snow forecasting site for Europe and the US and I wanted to share it because it's crazy useful. It's really easy to use, you just type in a resort and it'll give you the on and off piste forecast for the next week with snowfall and you can compare it to all the resorts nearby. http://www.wherecaniski.com
I hope this is allowed...

Hi any one know where I can get a good basic instructing course anywhere in the world for less than £5000. Or a few k for that matter. Is there no way I can get paid for learning?
I checked this but they're all so expensive: http://www.natives.co.uk/instructor/index.htm
Might just have to save up..
Thanks in advance, Roger Current Mood: cold

I'm in the first stages of planning a New Year snowboarding holiday for me and eight or nine others. Cost is a serious issue, so I was considering Borovets in Bulgaria, although my friends are pretty set on going to Tignes.
Does anyone have any experience/advice/thoughts on the Borovets for intermediate boarders, and/or any ideas for cheap places to stay in Tignes?

What is Snowboarding?
Heyo people. I hope there's some still tuned in to this.
I've missed this season, being laid up with a recovery program that involves saving for next season in Whistler.
So I've been reading the mags and watching the TV.
You know what pisses me off? This: Every article in the mags is about "How was filming your movie? How did it feel waking up early and waiting for snow, knowing that you might not be able to film that day? How do you feel about your film coming out? What does it feel like looking for a movie sponsor?"
What else pisses me off? The TV: Look at my movie!
How about what it feels like to be a boarder? How about an article about waiting in the queue and finding the line nobody else but you and your buddy found? How about the quiz of choosing which gear to buy for your style? Where's the article about how you find your own style? Where's the writing about taking your first step from a hire board to your own board? What type of board fits your style?
What about the articles about getting frozen near to fear in a snow blizzard at the top of a crest while you find your way home?
What about the moment when you 'crack' a new slope, a new piece of kit, a new mountain, a moment when the mountain and yourself became one *you know what I mean*
What about the moment when you catch a skiier on the way up the hill and nod to each other, then later in the day spot each other and race back to the lift, with a nod to each other as the winner passes?
Where is the writing about what it feels like to be a snowboarder? All I can find is - Here's my movie!
What about those of us who enjoy snowboarding who don't care about movies, because we know fame doesn't matter? What about boarders who don't want to be on film?
What about snowboarders who want to be on the mountain for the fun it gives us?
I really hope someone replies to this. Current Mood: geeky

Although I've been boarding quite a bit on real snow, I'm going to a dry slope tomorrow for the first time. However, I have absolutely no idea what to wear. My boarding gear is currently at a friend's in Switzerland and I'm not entirely sure I'd want to wreck it on a dry slope anyway (I've heard they can be a bit harsh on clothes). However, the forecast for tomorrow says cold with rain/snow, so I was wondering - would it be worth buying a really cheap pair of salopettes to wear on the dry slope? Or is it more sensible to wear trakkie bottoms and some thin waterproof trousers? And the same with jackets - I have my ski jacket but would it be better to wear a hiking rainjacket?

I'm new so thought I'd put up a wee post to say hi! Not been snowboarding for very long, despite living less than an hour away from Scotland's best slopes. I'd been skiing a few times when I was younger and snowboarding once, but I went to Dubai in the summer and went boarding at SkiDubai and had a great time. I doubt I'll go skiing again ;-)
Just bought my first board, so I'm praying for some good snow now!

Last night I booked myself on a holiday. I'm going snowboarding in a place called Kitzbuhel in Austria. I'll be staying in the Bruggerhof Hotel on half board, which gets me a cooked breakfast and a four course meal every day with free wine. :)
It's sad that my other half can't come with me, but I have to get a session of boarding in before the season finishes.
Here's a pic of the slopes and the town.
I'm really looking forward to it. Flying out on March 25th and returning on April 1st. If anyone fancies a snow holiday and wants to join me, let me know and I'll tell you where to book. It cost me £488 including all fees and ski pass so not too bad for a single occupancy in a posh resort.

Hello! Not much happening I see. Thought I'd say hello!
I've not boarded for a while, but usually go to Tamworth (it's close), and occasionally Milton Keynes (it's far away). Anyone else about?

This seems like a bit of small community but could be cool. Any ways, I've been boarding for 4 months now only on dry though it's still good fun and going Andorra in nov I hope :) I have some small bits of rust on the edge of my board which seem to come off when i clean so I don't know if this is much to worry about but any one use anything to get rid of these like wire wool or somat?

Myself and some some of the guys from work (along with some people I used to work with) will be making a trip to Milton Keynes in the next two weeks or so to get some off-season boarding done. With any luck, there should be some neat pictures of us all wiping out in various amusing ways :o) Current Mood: sleepy
